Garden of Fools [Jam Version]

Garden of Fools was made for the Devzone Secret Santa Jam 2024.

Garden of Fools takes place in the imagination of a young boy who has his sadistic robot character, Funkotron, invade the sketchbook of his sister and wreak havoc. 

Genre-wise, it's a 2D roguelite with megaman battle network style combat. I'm considering revisiting GoF sometime in the future and expanding it out into a proper experience

TIPS:

• You can stack abilities in the same slot to upgrade them. This will improve firerate, heat generation, and (for some weapons) it'll increase damage.
• On the overworld: blue boxing glove nodes are standard encounters, orange warning nodes are elite encounters, pink medkit nodes are repair shops, and yellow coin nodes are ability shops.
• Be very wary of the gnomes.

THE SECRET SANTA WISHLIST THIS WAS BASED ON:

- rougelike where you explore a dungeon with loot including seeds that grow into new parts of the dungeon when planted 

- takes place in a massive garden full of impossibly large plant life 

- side-scrolling real-time gameplay/combat locked to a grid. enemies attacks have displayed areas of effect that you can dodge with quick inputs 

- goal is to climb as high as possible 

- reserved color palette. mostly black and white with splashes of color for effect
